| The
Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage (PDF Format) |
Note:
The marriage
service (PDF) is identical to the liturgy found in the
Book of Common Prayer. The text of the recommended Scripture
readings are linked below. Should you desire to have the
Holy Eucharist as part of your celebration, please speak
with the officiating clergy person. The rubrics (italicized
instructions), indicate appropriate places in the liturgy
for music. You may plan the music in consultation with Emmanuel’s
Director of Music.

| Suggested Scripture
Readings |
The Book of Common Prayer indicates
that the following readings are appropriate for weddings.
Typlically, couples choose a reading from either the Hebrew
Scriptures or the New Testament
(although one from each is fine as well), and a reading from
the Gospels. Readings from
the first two sections are read by a person of the couple’s
choosing. The Gospel is read by the officiating clergy. |

Selections |
Emmanuel Church has a strong tradition
of excellent classical, sacred music. We have an exquisite
pipe organ that is played with great proficiency by our organist,
John Totter and we have a Steinway baby-grand piano. John
can furnish you with a CD, produced in Emmanuel's church,
that includes organ music appropriate for weddings. He can
also arrange for soloists and instrumentalists. John can be
reached through the parish office. We invite you to
listen on-line to some of our suggested Music Selections. |
